Responsibility for the Entire Supply Chain

Customer Relations

Basic philosophy

To meet the variety of customer demands, Nidec has a basic sales philosophy knows as “QCDSSS (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Speed, Service, and Specialization) ,” based on which development, production, and sales departments work in an integrated way to secure better customer satisfaction and build excellent customer-supplier relationships. To quickly answer the needs of our customers around the world, we exercise a “made in market” strategy, where we develop, produce, and sell our products close to our customers. This is how we stay close to the market in each region, providing speedy and detailed services that meet our customers’ needs.

For high quality, low cost, and short delivery lead times

In an attempt to constantly keep up with the pace of user companies’ product development, and provide high-quality products promptly while handling specification changes flexibly, the Nidec Group makes it a basic philosophy to design and develop production lines in-house.

The Nidec Group’s business sites in Japan mainly engage in research and development, and our product category-specific “technology centers” build and evaluate prototypes of sample mass-production lines for new product design and development. These “technology centers,” which also work as the mother factories of our overseas business sites, support their production based on close information exchange. The Nidec Group’s production sites in Japan have quality assurance departments which build quality assurance systems based on a quality management-related international standard known as ISO9001 (IATF16949 for automotive motors).

Speed-oriented customer service

The Nidec Group, for whom the best customer service is to provide such services speedily and properly, has sales and marketing sites in various regions in Japan, Asia, the United States, and Europe, having close communications with the market and user companies. We quickly provide our development and production departments with information obtained in such communications with customers, while our sales, development, and production departments collaborate with one another to develop technologies and products, and to offer solutions.

CSR audit

Nidec uses a third-party organization to conduct periodic onsite audits based on its in-house CSR standards (“Nidec Group CSR Declaration” ) substantially equivalent to the RBA* Code of Conduct. The audit, intended for major production bases in Asia and Southeast Asia, where an especially large number of Nidec employees work, was held a total of 16 times in FY2018 at 11 production plants in China, Thailand, and Vietnam. The third-party audits scheduled to take place during the FY2019 - FY2022 period were postponed amid the COVID-19-caused pandemic.
