What Are Motors?
Alternating-current motors are in many cases abridged and called AC motors in English.
AC motors are broadly classified into <1> Commutator motors, <2> Synchronous motors, and <3> Induction motors. And according to the type of power supply used, they are classified into three-phase motors that use three-phase AC, single-phase motors that use single-phase AC, and others.
Of late, three-phase motors are more frequently driven by the power inverter circuit using a semiconductor device called an inverter. The objective of this driver configuration is to operate the motor at a rotating speed and torque intended for the application by controlling the voltage and frequency through use of the inverter.
