50% - Motor Power Consumption
Motors consume approximately 50% of the power used around the world. This is why constant technological progress is needed
The power that supports society behind the scenes
Motors move the world and have the potential to create the future.
Motors that support society
All things run on motors—including smartphones, appliances, and vehicles as well as industrial facilities such as plants and power generation facilities. And, as times change, the situations that require using motors are also rapidly expanding.
Components that power everything:
Motors account for roughly 50% of the world’s power consumption
Reducing global power consumption is a major theme in responding to global warming
Enacted in 2016 to respond to global warming, the Paris Agreement* aims to keep the increase in the global average surface temperature within 2°C compared to pre-industrial levels. To achieve this, we must continue reducing greenhouse gas emissions (such as CO2), and effectively achieve net zero emissions as a zero carbon society post-2050. Reducing power consumption is a major theme to achieve this target.
*Paris Agreement: A new international framework that replaces the Kyoto Protocol for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from 2020.
What can motors do to curb global warming?
Consumers need higher quality and more efficient motors
Nidec can make this happen
As essential components in modern society, motors, also account for much of power consumption.
This is why we need higher quality and more efficient motors in a variety of fields.
Nidec has been a global pioneer of such highly functional and cost-competitive motors.
Going forward, we will continue to develop motors that support the world’s highest efficiency standards and be a driving force in energy savings.
