This is how clever thermal management works.
The thermal management module uses the optimum control of the individual coolant flows for fast and safe heating and subsequent cooling of the engine (split cooling). This thermal management enables CO2 savings.
- With the aid of an electrically adjustable ball valve, the familiar radiator bypass control of the coolant is ensured. The innovation is the electrically controlled transfer of the coolant from the crankcase. This enables a zero-flow, a pilot-flow via the engine block thermostat and a panic-flow.
