Protect the environment, save our planet.

Recently, the global environment is increasingly threatened and environmental issues are getting more attention worldwide. Against that background, environmental efforts from the global standpoint have come to constitute a mainstream movement, including the Kyoto Protocol for global warming prevention that went into effect in February, 2005. Now, such efforts are made not only by national and local governments, but also by private corporations. One example of the initiatives taken by corporations is environmental preservation activities, including acquisition of ISO 14001 certification. In response to the growing interest in environmental issues in the industry, Nidec DriveTechnology received ISO 14001 certification, and set up our own Environmental Concept and Environmental Policy. In line with these, we strive to develop environmentally friendly products while participating in various environmental preservation activities. Nidec realizes that the perpetual protection of the global environment is an important issue common to all mankind, and aim to minimize environmental load through environmentally friendly business activities to carry out our social responsibilities.

Nidec DriveTechnology Corporation conducts our business activities in accordance with our "Environmental Philosophy" to minimize our effects on the environment. For that purpose we have set the following guidelines to achieve the goals of our environmental philosophy.

1.In order to reduce environmental load and prevent global warming, we focus on developing eco-friendly products, and promote "reduction of energy consumption," "waste reduction/recycling," and "reduction of using toxic chemicals."
2.In order to maintain and improve our environmental performance, we shall stay conscious of the environmental aspects of our business activities and products, adequately conduct following 4 environmental preservation activities, and promote continuous improvements through these activities. (1) Implement environmental pollution prevention activities. (2) Utilize the sustainable resources. (3) Mitigate and Apply the climate change. (4) Protect biodiversity as well as ecosystem.
3.We shall adhere to environment-related laws and regulations, as well as other requirements to which we have agreed.
4.For the operation of the environmental management system, set specific environmental objects and proceed them.
5.Share the environmental policy within the organization, and disclose it on demand from outsiders.
