On March 12, Nana Takagi of Nidec Sankyo’s Speed Skating Team and two other members of the Japanese national team won the women’s team pursuit gold medal at the final stage of International Skating Union’s World Cup Speed Skating held in Heerenveen, the Netherlands.
This victory, which is the team’s third in the total of four women’s team pursuit races during the World Cup this season, led Nana Takagi and her team members to achieve an overall winning in the event. In the race, the team made a victory against the highly competitive Dutch national team, without which the overall victory would not have been possible. This victory comes as the Japanese national team’s second overall win in the event in 11 seasons since the 2004-2005 season, when the team pursuit was officially included in the ISU World Cup Speed Skating.
