History

1853 Giò Ansaldo & Co. is founded in Genoa, Italy. Over the decades the company will evolve into three business areas; Transportation, Energy and Industry.
1899 Ansaldo establishes its electro-technical plant in Genoa. This is the birth of Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali.
1950 Ansaldo is a partially state-owned company.
1953 Avtron founded in Cleveland, OH, USA.
1960 First Pulse Generator (Encoder) developed at Avtron.
1989-1995 Ansaldo launches a period of overseas expansion acquiring Hill Graham Controls (UK), Ross Hill Controls (US) & Loire Automation SA (France).
2000 Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali (ASI), the Industrial branch of Ansaldo, is privatised and begins collaboration with Robicon (USA) under the name ASIRobicon. Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali changes its name to ASIRobicon SpA.
2005 ASI ends collaboration with Robicon and becomes “a Lynn Tilton Company”.
2006 ASIRobicon SpA changes its name back to Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali SpA.
2012 Nidec acquires Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali SpA. which becomes Nidec ASI S.p.A.
Nidec acquires Avtron Industrial Automation to expand industrial platform.
2015 Nidec ASI acquires Motortecnica to expand service.
2017 Nidec Corporation further expands its industrial platform with the acquistion of the motors, drives and electric power generation businesses of Emerson Electric Co. The Automation Solutions business becomes part of Nidec Industrial Solutions.
