120-degree operation
As shown below, the fundamental switching scheme of a three-phase brushless DC motor is implemented so that each of switching elements S1, S2, and S3 is turned to up for 120 degrees, open for 60 degrees and to 0 (GND) level for 120 degrees. This is referred to as a 120-degree operation.
