Moving-coil motor
Fundamentally, this is an actuator which is comprised of one or more movable coils placed in a magnetic field.
Figure (a) shows two samples of moving-coil rotors having a commutator.
Figure (b) shows an HDD using a moving-coil motor for magnetic head operation. In this case the rotor moves in a
limited angle, and so a commutator is not necessary.
