History

This page shows our history of the division from its establishment to the present.

Kazuma Tateishi, founder of Tateishi Electric Co., Ltd. (Omron Corporation), the only electronics manufacturer that comprehensively handled sensors, components, controllers, and systems, established the Automotive Electronics Division in 1983 as car electronics became more widespread in the 1970s. At the time, there were many challenges for a control device manufacturer to become an automotive parts manufacturer, but the founder's courageous decisions and everyday challenges to overcome these challenges have led us to where we are today.

In 2010, we spun off from Omron Corporation to establish Omron Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. In 2014, we merged with Omron Iida Co., Ltd. (at the time) to enhance our global competitiveness. We have built trusting relationships with automobile manufacturers around the world, and are contributing to a safer and more comfortable automotive society through manufacturing while conducting business globally.

In 2019, we became a part of the Nidec group through the transfer of shares from Omron Corporation to Nidec Corporation.

In 2025, we merged with NIDEC ELESYS CORPORATION.
