They recently purchased four new NIDEC MACHINE TOOL 「ZE26C gear grinders」, and we interviewed General Manager Yuan Shuyong and Chairman Wang Li when they visited our Japan factory in the Shiga province of Japan.

Chongqing Suteng Mechanical Manufacture Co., Ltd. was established in September 1972. They are a company with an integrated system of R&D, manufacturing, and sakes with a diverse customer base, including automotive parts, general precision transmission equipment, and agricultural machinery. Their gear production reaches 4 million units per year, mainly automobile manufacturers (Chang’an, Hafei, Changhe, SAIC-GM-Wuling, FAW, Yuan Xiaokang), including China's Big 5 automobiles, and is also a strategic supplier of transmission gears for Chang’an Automobile and SAIC-GM-Wuling.

Q: Thank you for your patronage over the years.
Chairman Wang: Since 2017, we have been using the hobbing machines of NIDEC Machine Tools (then Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Machine Tools) mainly for gear processing of automotive transmission components.
Q: How do you feel about using our hobbing machines?
General Manager Yuan: We have a large number of gear machine tools from German manufacturers and other domestic manufacturers in China. Compared to them, I think NIDEC's facilities are the best. NIDEC's equipment has the highest utilization rate in our company. Currently, automation equipment has also been introduced, and the machines are running even when workers are taking breaks. It runs very stably for a minimum of 16 hours a day and has almost no breakdowns.
Q: How about the after-sales service of NIDEC Changshu Factory?
General Manager Yuan: To be honest, I've been using it for about seven years, but I've never had a breakdown (laughs). We recently replaced only one electrical component, but NIDEC's after-sales service response was very quick and did not affect production at all.
Q: Thank you for your high rating. I'm honored.
Please tell us why you placed a bulk order for our ZE26C gear grinder with 4 units.
General Manager Yuan: Based on our many years of experience using NIDEC equipment, we have great confidence in the quality of the equipment as well as the after-sales service, so we purchased four units in bulk this time.
These four gear grinders are mainly used for processing gears and shafts of transmissions of new energy vehicles*. Two out of four have already arrived at the factory and we have started commissioning. We would like to feed back the results of this to the operation of the remaining two units.
Q: What do you expect from NIDEC Machine Tools in the future?
General Manager Yuan: The current mainstream of China's automobile industry is still fueled vehicles, but new energy vehicles are entering a period of rapid transformation. Currently, pure electric and hybrid vehicles account for one-third of China's automotive market. In particular, the annual growth rate in the past 3 years is 70%~80%. If it continues to grow, new energy vehicles may become mainstream in China by 2026. We look forward to NIDEC's focus on this trend in the Chinese market and to be flexible with Chinese customers and to upgrade the software to support gears for new energy vehicles.
