Skew,Skewed slots
A core with skewed slots is employed to reduce cogging caused by magnetic attraction between the stator and rotor teeth, as in the case of (a) below, or the cogging torque caused by the spatial relation between the edges of the field magnets and the armature teeth and slots, as in (b).
