Response to Suspected Quality-Related Misconduct

After, as part of the Nidec Corporate Reform Committee’s internal management system improvement, interviewing with individual production bases’ employees, checking records on process, design, and other changes, and group-wide quality inspection (including the launch of a whistleblowing system to accept concerns from all employees), suspicion was raised over some of the products manufactured by Nidec Corporation and other Nidec Group companies – Their materials/components, processes, designs, etc. may have been changed without checking by our customers (the “issue”).

We deeply apologize to our customers, shareholders, investors, and others for the tremendous anxiety and trouble that the issue has caused. We have started informing and explaining to those customers concerned with the products over the issue. While no problems have been identified that immediately affect the products’ functions or safety so far, we will continue to address the issue properly by, among other actions, conducting technical verifications of identified cases and improving and reviewing our internal quality control system.

Potential issues were identified regarding some of the products manufactured by Nidec Corporation and other Nidec Group companies – their components/materials, processes, designs, etc. may have been changed without checking by our customers. To address this issue, our investigation committee will conduct thorough investigations, while we launch an improvement promotion office to communicate with our customers timely, and discuss and execute effective recurrence prevention measures.
