Q. What is your main business?

We mainly produce automotive products, as well as appliance, commercial, and industrial products. We are aiming for sales of 1,300 billion yen including contribution of M&A in FY2025 in the automotive field, our main area of growth. The Nidec Group offers motors for automotive use, including electric power steering motors which enjoy the world’s largest market share, as well as other products such as in-car cameras, control valves, and electric oil pumps. Traction motors power the “drive” function, one of the three fundamental automotive operations (“drive, turn, and stop”), so we expect they will also become drivers of our future growth. Combining these with Nidec group companies' ECU makes individual components function as sub-systems, and allows us to provide high-value-added modules. Integrating motors, ECUs, sensors, and other components, and thereby controlling electronically various functions of automobiles enables us to offer enhanced vehicle safety features such as safe driving, collision mitigation, damage minimization and autonomous driving, among others. Moreover, it also improves fuel efficiency, and reduces CO2 emissions. Going forward, we aim to supply the automobile industry with automotive electronic components and sub-systems built upon our proven motors, ECUs and advanced sensors and to contribute to making safer, more environmentally conscious and comfortable automobiles. As for appliance, commercial and industrial products, we are pursuing synergy effects and seeking to improve profitability as we aim for 1,300 billion yen including contribution of M&A in sales during FY2025. Products spearheading the growth initiative include motors for washing machines, dehydrators and dishwashers in the appliance sector, air conditioners in the commercial sector, and agricultural equipment, oil/gas refining, mining, water treatment, steel production, marine transportation and power generation in the industrial sector. We will strive for further growth in these businesses, with the rising awareness of energy conservation and accompanying regulatory developments as a constant tailwind.
