1973	July	Katsura Plant Shigenobu Nagamori, current Chairman of the board & CEO, established Nippon Densan Corporation (now Nidec Corporation) in Nishikyo-ku, Kyoto with a capital of 20 million yen. Founding Archives 360° view Nidec was born in this prefabricated hut in 1973. This “hut” now serves as the company’s foundation memorial hall at the company’s head office. You can see a 360° panoramic image.
1973	August	Started production and sales of small precision AC motors.
1974	October	Opened a sales agent in the U.S.
1974	1January	Head Office Relocated its Head Office to Omiya, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto.
1975	January	Opened a sales agents in Asia and European countries.
	February	Kameoka Plant Established a new plant (Kameoka Plant) in Kameoka-city, Kyoto.
	April	Launched full-scale production of brushless DC motors.
1976	April	Nidec America Corp. Established Nidec America Corp, a locally-incorporated company.
1978	1January	Established Nidec Torin Corp. jointly with Torin Corp., an American fan manufacturer, in order to make full-scale inroads into the fan and blower market.
1979	October	8-inch Spindle motor Started production and sales of small precision AC motors.
1982	June	stablished the Mineyama Plant in Mineyama-cho, Naka-gun, Kyoto.
1982	October	TA450DC Started full-scale production of axial-flow type brushless DC fans.
1983	November	Head Office Relocated its Head Office to Karasuma Oike, Nakagyou-ku, Kyoto.
1984	February	Nidec Torin Corporation Acquired the axial-flow fan business from American company Torin Corporation, and established the locally-incorporated company Nidec Torin Corporation in America.
	February	Started production of spindle motors for 3.5-inch hard disk device.
	October	Established the Shiga Plant (currently Shiga Technical Center) in Echigawa-cho (now Aishou-cho), Echi-gu, Shiga.
	November	Opened the Singapore Representative Office.
1988	November	Attestation ceremony for listing on the Osaka Stock Exchange. The company listed its stock on the second section of the Osaka Stock Exchange, and the Kyoto Stock Exchange.
1989	January	Took a stake in DC Pack Co., Ltd., and re-named it Ibaragi Nidec Corp. and moved into the power-supply unit sector.
	March	Established Nidec Singapore Pte. Ltd., a locally-incorporated company.
	March	Took a stake in Shinano Tokki Co., Ltd..

1990	August	Established Nidec Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a locally-incorporated company.
1991	April	Opened the Taiwan Representative Office.
1991	May	Nidec America Corp. acquired "Power General", a U.S. power-supply unit manufacturer.
1992	February	Established Nidec (Dalian) Ltd., a locally-incorporated company in China.
1992	October	Established Nidec Taiwan Corp., a locally-incorporated company.
1993	April	Established Nidec Electronics GmbH, a locally-incorporated company in Germany.
	September	Head Office Relocated its Head Office to the company's own building in Nishikyogoku, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto
	October	Acquired Masaka Electronics Co.Ltd.. Merged Ibaragi Nidec Corp. and Masaka Electronics Co.Ltd. to form Nidec Power General Corp, a new company.
	October	Established Nidec (H.K.) Co., Ltd., a locally-incorporated company, as a base for an IPO.
1995	February	Kyoritsu Machinery Co., Ltd. The company took a stake in Kyoritsu Machinery Co., Ltd. by accepting its allocation of new stocks to a third party.
	February	Shimpo Industries Co., Ltd. Took a stake in Shimpo Industries Co., Ltd., a leading CVT manufacturer, by accepting its allocation of new stocks to a third party.
	December	Established Nidec Philippines Corp., a locally-incorporated company.
1997	March	Tosok Corp. Took a stake in Tosok Corp.
	April	Read Electronics Corp. Took a stake in Read Electronics Corp.
	May	Kyori Kogyo Co., Ltd. Took a stake in Kyori Kogyo Co., Ltd.
	December	Established Nidec Tosok (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. through a joint investment with Tosok Corp.
1998	February	Established P.T. Nidec Indonesia, a locally-incorporated company.
	February	Copal Co., Ltd. Copal Electronics Co., Ltd. Took a stake in Copal Co., Ltd. and Copal Electronics Co., Ltd.
	September	Listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Listed on the first section of the Osaka Stock Exchange.
	October	Shibaura Nidec Corp. Established Shibaura Nidec Corp. through a joint investment with Shibaura Mechatronics Corp. and Toshiba Corp.
	October	Nidec Singapore Pte. Ltd. took a stake in Copal's locally-incorporated company in Malaysia. The company name was changed to Nidec Copal (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.
1999	March	Established Nidec Precision (Thailand) Co.,Ltd., a locally-incorporated company.
	April	Established Nidec General Service Corporation through a joint investment with Nidec Shimpo Corp., Tosok Corp., Copal Co., Ltd., Shibaura Nidec Corp., Nidec-Kyori Corp. and Nidec-Read Corp.
	October	Nemicon Corp. Took a stake in Nemicon Corp.
	December	Established Nidec Korea Corp., a locally-incorporated company.

2000	March	Y-E Drive Corp. Took a stake in Y-E Drive Corp.
	April	Nidec Shibaura (Thailand) Co.,Ltd. and Nidec Shibaura Electronics (Thailand) Co.,Ltd. merged (company name became Nidec Shibaura Electronics (Thailand) Co.,Ltd.).
	October	Acquired an HDD motor plant of an American company Seagate technology Inc. in Thailand, and established Nidec Hi-Tech Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a locally-incorporated company.
2001	January	Established Nidec Precision Philippines Corp., a locally-incorporated company.
	September	Listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
	October	The company opened the Taiwan Technical Center.
2002	April	Established Nidec System Engineering (Zhejiang) Corp., a locally-incorporated company in China.
2002	June	Established Nidec (Dongguan) Ltd., a locally-incorporated company in China.
2003	March	Head Office/ Central Technical Laboratory The building for the Head Office and Central Technical Laboratory was completed in Minami-ku, Kyoto
	April	Established Nidec (Shanghai) International Trading Co., Ltd., a locally-incorporated company.
	May	Relocated its Head Office and opened the Central Technical Laboratory.
	October	Took a stake in Sankyo Seiki Mfg. Co., Ltd. Took a stake in Sankyo Seiki Mfg. Co., Ltd.
2004	April	Sankyo Logistics was renamed Nidec Logistics Corp.
2005	October	Established Nidec Vietnam Corp., a locally-incorporated company.
2006	February	Established Nidec Automobile Motor (Zhejiang) Corp., a locally-incorporated company in China.
2006	December	Nidec Motors & Actuators Established Nidec Motors & Actuators by acquiring the motor and actuator business of Valeo S.A., a French company.
2007	February	Brilliant Manufacturing Ltd. Acquired Brilliant Manufacturing Ltd. of Singapore.
	April	Took a stake in Japan Servo Co.,Ltd.
	November	Radio control power glider (F5B) Gliders equipped with Nidec motors participated in the Japan Radio Control Power Glider Championship (F5B) for the first time and won a clean sweep of first, second, and third places.
2009	September	Established solely owned Nidec Techno Motor Holdings Corporation, and placed Nidec Shibaura Corporation and Nidec Power Motor Corporation under its control.
2009	November	Opened Shiga Technical Center's new main building.

2010	January	Nidec Techno Motor Holdings Corporation acquired the home appliance motor business of Appliances Components, an Italian home appliance manufacturer. Started Nidec Sole Motor Corporation S.R.L.
	February	Nidec Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. acquired SC Wado Co., Ltd., a base plate manufacturer owned by Salee Industry Public Company Limited in Thailand.
	August	A glider equipped with a Nidec motor took first place in the World Radio Control Gliders (F5B) Championship.
	October	Nidec Motor Corporation Established Nidec Motor Corporation by acquiring the Motors & Controls business of Emerson Electric Co., an American company. Established Nidec Motor Holdings Corporation as its holding company.
	October	Nidec (Shaoguan) Limited Established Nidec (Shaoguan) Limited as its manufacturing subsidiary in China.
	December	Nidec India Private Limited Established Nidec India Private Limited as its sales subsidiary in India.
2011	July	SANYO Seimitsu Corp. Took a stake in SANYO Seimitsu Corp.
2011	November	Established Nidec Management Shanghai Corporation as its subsidiary for controlling financing of group companies operating in China.
2012	March	Established SC Wado Component (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. as the first operating base in Cambodia.
	April	Nidec-Shimpo Corporation acquired the Minster Machine Company, the largest press machine manufacturer in the U.S.
	April	Established the Nidec Research and Development Center, Singapore in Singapore.
	June	Acquired Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali S.p.A. of Italy.
	September	The Nidec Research and Development Center, Taiwan Established the Nidec Research and Development Center, Taiwan in Taiwan.
	September	Established Nidec US Holdings Corporation in the U.S. This holdings company acquired Avtron Industrial Automation, Inc.
	November	Nidec US Holdings Corporation in the U.S. acquired Kinetek Group Inc.
	December	Took a stake in Jiangsu Kaiyu Auto Appliance.
2013	Apri	Nidec Automotive Motors Americas Corporation Nidec Corporation establishes Nidec Automotive Motors Americas Corporation in the US to integrate its automotive motor business in the country’s market.
2014	January	Nidec Sankyo Corporation purchases Mitsubishi Materials C.M.I. Corporation.
	January	Nidec Corporation’s Precision Machining Department becomes Production Engineering Center.
