The Nidec Group Social Media Policy

The Nidec Group Social Media Terms of Service

Nidec Corporation and its group companies in and outside Japan (“the Nidec Group”) hereby define as follows the “Nidec Group Social Media Terms of Service” (“the Terms of Service”) regarding the use of the Nidec Group’s official social media accounts (“the official social media accounts”).

When using an official social media account

  1. 1.The Nidec Group requests those who use its official social media accounts (“users of the official social media accounts”) to comply with these Terms of Service and any separate terms of service of individual social networking service providers (collectively, “SNS terms of service”) when posting comments, photographs, videos, links, or other content (collectively, “user content”) on the accounts.
  2. 2.The Terms of Service apply to all users of the official social media accounts.
  3. 3.Posts, comments, and specific acts on any of the official social media accounts that fall or may fall into any of the following categories will be removed or subject to other measures deemed necessary:
  • Content that is unrelated to the official social media accounts;
  • Content that is contrary to public policy or that may violate a third party’s rights in the form of slander, etc.;
  • Content that is related to any criminal or illegal conduct;
  • Content that includes obviously false information;
  • Content that includes obscene, derogatory, or other inappropriate expressions;
  • Content that has been modified by deleting  signatures, watermarks or legal notices;
  • Content posted under a false name;
  • Content that is political or religious in nature, or related to commercial advertisements, publicity campaigns, or solicitation of services etc;
  • Content that includes personal information of users or third parties not related to the official social media accounts;
  • Unauthorized uploading of copyrighted software;
  • Uploading of files containing malicious software;
  • Content that violates the SNS terms of service; and/or
  • Other content that the Nidec Group deems inappropriate as it operates the official social media accounts.
  1. 4.The official social media accounts are run by individual social networking service operators, and therefore, we cannot answer questions such as those regarding the system status of the service itself, including but not limited to questions of technical nature, or questions regarding third-party-provided applications and other programs that are usable on the social networking services.

Obligations and responsibility of the users of the official social media accounts

  • The users of the official social media accounts must assume the entire legal responsibility for the user content that they post or write on the official social media accounts themselves.
  • The users of the official social media accounts must assume the entire responsibility for damage caused as a result of their violation of SNS terms of service, etc., and be responsible for all the damage compensation and other costs that may result from such violations, etc.
  • The users of the official social media accounts must use the official social media accounts solely at their own responsibility, and use information from the accounts based on their judgment and responsibility, while assuming all the responsibility for the use of such information, and compensating for all the damage, etc. that may result from the use of such information.
  • The Nidec Group will be entirely exempted from the responsibility for the acts of the users of the official social media accounts on the official social media accounts.

Official accounts

  • The official accounts, or their content, may be removed without prior notice.
  • The content provided to the official social media accounts may change, end, or be removed without prior notice.
  • The Nidec Group will not reply to posts or messages by the users of the official social media accounts on the official social media accounts.
  • The Nidec Group will not guarantee the accuracy or integrity of the content or information that the users of the official social media accounts post on the official social media accounts.
  • The copyright and other rights (including an author's moral rights) concerning the user content that the users of the official social media accounts posted on the official social media accounts will belong to the users of the official social media accounts; however, upon posting, the users of the official social media accounts agree to authorize the Nidec Group to use (process, excerpt, reproduce, disclose, translate, etc.) the user content for free of charge and on a non-exclusive basis all over the world, and agree not to exercise their copyright or other rights against the Nidec Group.
  • After determining that any user of the official social media accounts has posted or written user content of inappropriate nature on any official social media account, the Nidec Group can, without the consent of the user of the official social media accounts, block his/her access to the official social media accounts, as well as revoke the user’s ability to post or perform other activities on the official social media accounts.
  • By using the official social media accounts, the users will approve for other users of the official social media accounts to access information such as their name registered to the service, profile photo, gender, network, user ID, and other disclosed information.

Changes to the Terms of Service

The Nidec Group may change the Terms of Service without consent of the users of the official social media accounts.

The Terms of Service will be interpreted and applied based on the laws of Japan. Any conflict that occurs between the Nidec Group and the users of the official social media accounts will be handled by the Kyoto District Court, which will serve as the agreed exclusive jurisdiction of the first instance.
