Axial-flux motor

In conventional rotary motors, of both the inner and outer rotor types, the flux passes the stator-rotor airgap in the radial direction. Meanwhile, the flux is parallel to the rotary axle, or shaft, in the axial-flux motor.

Brushless motor with two-phase wave winding, which is rarely used today. The rotor magnets are those of a motor for the direct-drive turntable for a record player. Manufactured by Matsushita Electric Co. in the 1970s.
