Wave winding
This is a traditional winding adopted for brushed DC motors with 4 or more magnetic poles and an odd (15, 17, 31 etc.) number of slots. However, it is difficult to illustrate this clearly. Some easy to understand examples of axial magnetic flux type are the printed motor (a) and the brushless motor (b). Both are slotless types.
